Naya Ali's New Music Video Is Inspired By Get Out Featured

Coyote Records/Universal Music artist Naya Ali has been making waves and creating art on her own terms for the past couple of years. Since 2017, the Ethiopian-born Montrealer’s raspy delivery and sharp-tongued technique brought attention to her skills on the singles “Ra Ra” and “Out The Dirt”.

Her EP Higher Self left such an indelible mark in 2018 that she garnered attention and critical acclaim from the likes of heavy hitters like Complex, Apple Music, Spotify and Vice. She’s an artist who is self-assured and fearless about her creativity. She should be. Her work speaks for itself.

As an emcee, being compared to Kendrick Lamar for her clever spit-fire rhymes and Cardi B for her no-nonsense attitude, Ali’s grit and lyrical intensity are compelling. Her capabilities and hard work have led her to light up stages at many notable festivals including Osheaga, Up Here Festival, Montreal en Lumière, NXNE, opening for Pusha-T and Playboi Carti at Mural Festival and performing at her hometown’s finest, the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Now, armed with festival and renowned accolades under her belt, Ali returns to the scene with her new single and accompanying visuals for “Get It Right”. Produced by musical duo Banx & Ranx, the dark, destructive nature of the video coupled with driven, fast-paced beats are just the right setting for the story to unfold. Finding inspiration from the Oscar-winning movie Get Out, Ali revealed the idea behind the video, saying: “The visuals are about breaking free from the ‘sunken place’. I felt like I was trapped for so long in a state of mind that had me forget who I really was, so I had to break free and escape by killing a part of myself that I had outgrown. The dark and symbolic visual is a Kanye-esque canvas, inspired by Stanley Kubrick meets Jordan Peele”.

The ever-growing list of accomplishments and her new single make Naya Ali one to watch. Look out for her full-length feature album Godspeed coming our way in February 2020.
